Programme scope

From behaviour to brain-wide analysis

The programme moves from IBL experimental design and behavioural interpretation through single-neuron, population and brain-wide analysis, with practical data work and project development throughout.

Foundations and workflows

Computational neuroscience, IBL experimental design, behavioural task events, BWM data access, the IBL Agent and computational-research best practices.

Behavioural modelling

Decision-making models, psychometric fitting, priors, model comparison and reinforcement-learning models of past outcomes.

Video-derived behaviour

Behavioural signals, quality control, video processing, pose estimation and video-based action segmentation.

Single-neuron and LF analysis

Electrophysiological quality control, rasters, PSTHs, tuning curves, encoding, decoding, classifiers, cross-validation, filtering and brain-state classification.

Population and brain-wide analysis

Population decoding, neural manifolds, population dynamics, dimensionality reduction and distributed-network analyses of functional specialisation.

Research projects and interpretation

Exploratory analysis, project planning and presentations, AI-assisted analysis, CON2PHYS, and the effects of analytical choices on scientific results.
